Chromolithography is a poster designed to highlight how the printing process empowered people of color by enabling the accurate representation of diverse skin tones. This breakthrough was more than technical; it gave marginalized communities a tool to advocate for themselves, challenge harmful stereotypes, and claim space in visual culture. The intention of the design was to honor this history while reinterpreting the aesthetic qualities of chromolithography in a contemporary way. By incorporating symbolic elements such as borders, stamp-like motifs, and vintage photographic treatments, the poster visually calls back to the tools and styles of the era. The purpose was to educate viewers on the cultural impact of the process while also showing how design can function as both historical reflection and modern storytelling. Through this approach, the project demonstrates how graphic design can preserve legacy while sparking critical dialogue in the present.
